“I cried on the phone,” says Kelley Thompson about the day she learned she was on her way to becoming Miss November 2009. A small-town beauty from Texas, Kelley was working as a bartender at the time. She had done some test shooting in Dallas, but she never thought her dream would actually come true. Then a few days after the shoot, she says, she received a sign: A trio of cottontail bunnies in her front yard. The next thing she knew, the phone call arrived, and she was headed to the airport, bound for Los Angeles.

Ukrainian native Dasha Astafieva started modeling in 2003 and within four years had become Playboy Ukraine’s Playmate of the Year. This whetted her ambition for a larger stage. “I have dreamed of being an American Playmate since I first saw the magazine,” she says. “It has changed attitudes about beauty and sexuality and influenced people across the world. It’s an honor to appear in Playboy.”

Miss September 2009 Kimberly Phillips still can’t believe she’s a Playmate. ”It’s just so crazy,” she says. ” This experience is totally different from what I’m used to because I’m so shy. But I now have a whole new sense of ambition and confidence. I’m like, if I can be a Playboy Playmate, what else can I do?” Has Kimberly learned any lessons from her achievement? “Stay positive,” she says. “Never in a million years did I think I’d be a Playmate. You’ve just gotta keep the faith.”

You gotta love Miss October 2009Â Lindsey Gayle Evans. She was Miss Louisiana Teen USA when she got stripped of her crown by pageant officials for a minor pot possession charge. Of course, she never would have got busted for the nickle bag of weed if she hadn’t pulled a “dine-n-dash” at a local restaurant and forgotten her purse…. doh! Okay, so maybe Lindsey isn’t the brightest bulb in the batch, but she sure is cute ;)
